Published by AWills January 29th, 2007 in NewsThe World Economic Forum announced that since 2000, approximately 2.3 million deaths have been avoided due to the immunization of 138 million children by the GAVI Alliance. Support from private organizations, such as the Gates foundation, has put immunization rates in resource-poor countries is at an all-time high. In addition, over 17 government have committed $2.6 billion to support national immunization programs in over 70 countries. Much of the funding has been directed at the subsidization for vaccines, such as those for Hepatitis B, which have been reduced by half.
